Get Better At Blogging With These Tips!

Blogging has become very popular because it can be done by anyone, about any subject. Everyone has something that they would like to say, or some area of expertise that they would love to share with others. Use the tips from this article to help you create a blog that works for you.

Use the correct spam filter for comments. If you require registration to comment, a CAPTCHA on the registration page is usually sufficient to keep spammers away. If you allow anonymous comments, an “advanced CAPTCHA,” that is, one that asks the user for “the number of hours in a day” or something similar is usually enough. Avoid services like Akismet, as these produce lots of false positives.

Ensure that you are posting very often in the blogs that you operate. At the minimum, you should aim to post one time on each blog every single day during the weekdays. Of course, posting more is always welcome. This shows your visitors that you are a very active blogger, which will make them more prone to keep visiting your blogs.

Making use of Twitter is crucial for spreading the word about your blog. These days, you must put yourself out there on social networks if you want to have a chance at making an impact. You can’t simply rely on SEO to do all the work for you. Get yourself involved socially, and you’ll notice a difference.

Create an email update list for your blog. On your site, offer a place for people to sign up for these updates and send them out every time you post a new blog. Those who are truly interested in following your blog will like the idea of being notified when new content is posted.

It has been well established that blogging has become a popular activity. It can be a hobby, a passion or even a career. Use the information and techniques from the article above to help you make the most of your blog and to accomplish the goals that you have for your blog.

Digital Print

Digital print woes…..

As well as web-based advertising, it is good practice to get some physical advertisement out to the local punters. As such we have a couple of digital print machines here, and we have a regular team of engineers that service them. It’s not that these machines are in any way unreliable, but digital machines that are kept busy (and ours are!) need regular servicing to keep them in tip-top shape. Big jobs such as cheap leaflet printing will take a lot out of your machines. There are various parts that wear out and need replacement or adjustment on a regular basis and as we have a service contract with the suppliers of the machinery we have nothing to lose by calling the engineers out if even a slight fault appears. Cheap flyer printing doesn’t mean low quality!

We spend a little time chatting with the engineers whenever they visit, usually asking for better ways to use the machines to get more consistency and quality (gains are marginal, but worth asking for!). As a test, we often print flyers for them to look at. As these engineers service thousands of machines in use, they are the guys in the know and they often have valuable tips and tricks for us. This helps us to provide a better quality digital service to our customers and helps to avoid production delays.

I asked them how many times they get called out to companies that DON’T have a service contract. The engineer just smiled. it would appear that there are a LOT of companies using digital machines with no service contract. Because of the expense of a call-out they never ring the engineers about operational issues such as banding, miss-registration, poor colour balance and a host of others. In fact, a digital printer like this will ONLY call the engineer when the machine stops working altogether. Many of these companies offer flyer design as well, and delays caused by worn and broken machines can cause frustration and disappointment to customers all across the country who will not have the option to collect themselves to save time. Not very good service at all. It doesn’t matter how clued up your web designer is, if your machines don’t work, you ain’t bringing in the bacon.

How can you avoid this kind of printer? Well, you can stick to well known and trusted printers such as Megaprint, or you can pick a local printer and go and see them! Ask to see some samples of digital print – you’re well within your rights if you’re looking to purchase. Ask for a double sided A3 sheet of solid colour and take a close look at it. If there is any banding or areas of uneven colour on the print then the machine will need servicing. These are the places to avoid. If the test sheet looks smooth and even in colour and density you could well be onto a winner.
